Dark Oak
About the material
Dark oak is a natural solid wood material that is affected by humidity, temperature and light. Natural variations such as colour differences, knots and small cracks are part of the unique character of the wood and are not considered defects.
Solid wood may change slightly over time and can expand or contract with the seasons.
We recommend leaving the table in its original packaging at room temperature for 24 hours after delivery to let it acclimatise.
Daily Care
Use a damp cloth without detergent for daily cleaning. Alternatively, use cleaning products specially designed for solid wood.
Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, air-conditioning units and other heat sources, as they may dry out the wood and cause cracks.
Avoid placing hot or moist objects directly on the furniture. Do not cover the furniture with airtight material or partially cover the surface, as this may cause colour differences.
We strongly recommend oiling the table once a month during the first three months of its lifetime. After that, we recommend treating the table 4-6 times per year. This helps the wood adapt as well as possible to the humidity levels in your home.
You'll need
For dark oak, use either black oil or clear oil. Black oil will make the surface slightly darker. Clear oil keeps the same colour, but deepens the tone and enriches the finish. Black oil can be slightly more difficult to work with than lighter oils. Apply it in small amounts and take your time to distribute it evenly, especially around the edges, to avoid colour differences.
Clean, dry cotton cloths
Fine sanding sponge or fine sandpaper

Optional: gloves
Step-By-Step
- Lightly sand the surface following the grain of the wood. You can skip this step if you only want to refresh the surface and add a light shine.
- Remove sanding dust with a dry cloth. Wipe the tabletop with a cloth dampened with lukewarm water, then let it dry completely. This helps the wood open slightly and absorb the oil better.
- Shake the oil well and put on gloves if needed. Pour a small amount of oil onto the centre of the table and spread it evenly.
- Work in small amounts - less is better than too much. Apply the oil in gentle, circular motions.
- Wipe off excess oil following the grain to ensure an even finish.
- Use the remaining oil on the cloth to wipe the edges. Add a little more oil if needed.
* Important: As a final step, wipe the underside as well - a little more than a hand’s width in from the edge.
Important Note
* If the wood “rises”, we recommend taking the back of a piece of sandpaper and running it lightly over the entire surface. Finish with the respective oil with which you bought the table.
* Solid oak (and solid wood in general) is a natural material that is affected by humidity, temperature and light. Low humidity (approx. below 40%) can lead to cracks, while high humidity (approx. above 60%) can cause warping. Direct sunlight and placement close to heat sources such as radiators or air-conditioning units should be avoided, as this can dry out the wood and cause cracks. Placement in rooms with large temperature fluctuations should also be avoided.
* Solid oak (and solid wood in general) transforms slightly over time and can change dimensions depending on the seasons. For example, a solid oak table top can expand or contract by up to 2-3% of its width due to changes in humidity.
* Natural variations in the wood, such as color differences, knots and small cracks, are not considered defects, but part of the unique characteristics of the wood. Improper maintenance or placement in unfavorable environments can lead to damage that is not covered by the warranty.
