Dark Concrete

About the material

Our dark concrete is coloured with black iron oxide, which is mixed directly into the wet concrete. This means the tabletop is pigmented throughout, giving it a tone similar to anthracite grey.

Concrete is a material made from elements such as calcium, gravel and water. It will develop a natural patina over time, and small marks or stains should be seen as part of the character of the material.

When you first receive your table, we recommend treating it regularly in the beginning to saturate the concrete surface. The more the surface is treated at first, the better protected it becomes, and the fewer stains you are likely to experience. The table is pre-treated from the workshop.

Daily Care

Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth.

* Never use acidic or harsh cleaning products, such as Ajax or similar, as they may discolour the surface.

You'll need

Choosing the right treatment - wax and oil will make the tabletop appear darker and slightly more silky and smooth. Soap flakes will make the surface appear lighter and more dusty and matte.

In this video, we’re applying wax - to see soap flaskes, watch guide for "Light Concrete".

  • Wax
  • A clean, soft cloth (preferably two: one for applying, one for polishing)

Step-By-Step

- Open the wax, take a small amount of the wax with a dry cloth.

- Apply it in a thin, even layer across the surface.

- Buff the surface with the dry side of the cloth until smooth and slightly glossy.

- Repeat as needed - we recommend around 4-6 times a year.

Important Note

- Concrete is a material that contains natural elements, such as calcium, gravel and water. Even if you treat your table as recommended we cannot guarantee that it is 100% repellent to acid, coffee, red wine, fat etc. The general quality of concrete, is that it will patina beautifully over time. Your tabletop is pre-treated with a liquid and silicone-free wax from production.

- Avoid placing hot or moist objects directly on the table top.

- Avoid direct sunlight on the furniture the first 4 weeks.
